Meet The Champions
In this section we have collected some memorable stories
of the winners and characters who have ridden in the Great

Harold is seen here with the late Jane Tomlinson in 2004, when she set the riders off on their two rides, then she, son Steven leapt onto their tandem and (joined by) husband Mike, completed the twenty mile Full Monty Ride.
Super Dave Alias Chris Robinson, doing a cunning impersonation of Dave Crosby, father of Tracy Sidley, landlady at the Half Moon Inn, Fellbeck, where we held the rides from 1996 to 2002. Dave could be seen performing his marshalling/car parking and general duties in his trade mark bowler hat (minus the red cloak of course!).
Team Crown Hotel Middlesmoor assembly outside the registration tent before the start of the 2005 event. The Crown have been the most successful winners of the Pub Challenge Shield no less than six times out of the last seven years.
The Flying Foxes Nick Symons and Alice Fox coming home after completing the 20 mile Full Monty. Between them they raised an amazing £3500 in memory of Nick's wife Sarah (Alice's sister) who had recently died of cancer. Demonstrating what can be achieved by a team of only two.
Dennis Bell Founder member of GMsR has taken part in every ride since 1993. Due to circumstances he was unable to get on a bike, but was determined to maintain his 100% record. He is therefore pictured starting at 7.45am to complete the 10 mile Half Litre course on foot.
Dave Brackley The only other rider to have taken part in every ride since 1993. Dave, who lives in Glasshouses is also a member of Team Simon
Carly's Angels First time entrants in 2007 Carly and her team of youngsters won the Rob Smith Memorial Team Challenge Trophy, raising £1850. They are seen here before the start of the ride.
